Michael specialises in all aspects of commercial and corporate litigation, including company law (including directors' duties and shareholders' disputes), commercial contracts, insolvency, trade practices, trusts, construction and securities law. Michael has extensive experience as an advocate appearing in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, as well as having appeared in tribunals and having represented clients in mediations. He also works closely with Senior Counsel.
Prior to returning to New Zealand Michael worked in London as a Senior Associate in the disputes resolution department at Baker & McKenzie. While there he specialised in the areas of trusts, insolvency and fraud recovery and was involved in the Grupo Torras litigation involving multi-jurisdictional proceedings to trace and recover funds settled off-shore. Michael has been admitted to practise in both New Zealand and the UK. |
