He has a particular interest in shipping, transport and international trade law and regularly advises on disputes and transactions in the maritime and aviation sectors, including admiralty claims, transport related litigation, marine casualties, conflicts of laws and insurance matters, aircraft and ship sale and purchase and financing transactions, and on transport related regulatory and compliance issues. Most recently he assisted a vessel owner following a collision in international waters and acted for vessel charterers in relation to theft of a significant cargo, delivered without production of bills of lading against a standard letter of indemnity. He also recently assisted a client with the contract for building the world’s first full size electric harbour tug and acted on the construction of a roro vehicle ferry.

He has presented to conferences in New Zealand and overseas and to students at the NZ Maritime School on relevant topics of interest.
